Nikos Poulantzas

I admire in my field to Nicos Poulantzas (Νίκος Πουλαντζάς in Greek) was a Greek Marxist Political Sociologist. With Althusser (other French sociologist) worked together in France, they were the forefathers of Structural Marxist. His works are about theory of state and classes, with new contributions to the classic class analysis of Marx ergo updating the theory of classes to the contemporary world.
Today he is a still a reference in research or works about classes or social structure.
There’s a myth about his dead… the myth said that he committed suicide released from the 22nd floor clutching his books, I don’t believe in this history…
I Like read Poulantzas because is a good writer, unlike other sociologists his books are easier to read than others about classes like the re-edition of Historical Materialism of Habermas, although this is not the same thing… I Like Gramsci and Lucácks too, and with Poulantzas, I Think is a good start to go into the Marxist Theory (more modern than Marx) or understand more aspects than the classic theory doesn’t include.
My favourites books are “State, Power and Socialism” and “Classes in Contemporary Capitalism”

Mm, for the picture, I can believe that story about his death :P

I like Nicos Poulantzas too. But, I think that I might read again his books.

The structural marsism is very interesting =)!!!!

Sounds very interesting! and like every interesting character is sorrounded by a halo of myth...

Very good, I did not anything about him. thank you

Fabiola quite theoretical your likes huhuhu, very good and well done... let's talk next class...

He is a great inspiration for me, but his structural marxism lacks the concept of agency and hence change. The issue is solved by Bob Jessop's "Strategic-Relational Approached" taking his start from Gidden's structuration theory and Poulantzas's Strategic Structuralism.
